Jaguars Novice :: Bronze Medalists

Bronze Medalists

March 5, 2010 -- The MYAA Jaguars Novice Under 10 years old is the Bronze Medalist at the Blessed Sacrament Invitational Tournament held in Hamilton, Ontario. The March 5 Invitational was a very competitive event and the Jaguars was given their baptism of fire for the high level tourney. The first game against the Blessed Sacrament 2 was a downer as they, at first, overwhelmed our kids. However, the game against Ancaster Magic was a nail-biter as JAGUARS lost by only 6 points, as the team got into the tracks of competition. The third game against Guelph Phoenix was again a tit-for-tat attack to a photo finish score of 30-25 MYAA win to qualify for the Medal Rounds. The semi-finals against Bayan was disappointing for the Gold Medal Round but still within the quest for the Bronze against The TECUMSEH Hoops. JAGUARS controlled the game all the way to the finish with a hard earned 12-26 points for MYAA.

The parents were wonderfully cheerful for the easy win of their kids. A good teamwork for the whole team, combined efforts of Coach Machie, Assistant Coaches Armand and Allen, Manager Maribeth, and very supportive parents, all contributed to the kids' victory. We'll see from here for other tournaments to come for Jaguars.

Jaguars Fundraising

In order to help everyone in the Jaguars Family, we intend to do in-house fundraising by Mid October and finishing by the first week of January. This will be a 50/50 raffle, meaning 50% of the total raised funds will be allocated for the prize and 50% will go to the club depending on each individual fundraiser, then 50% will be reimbursed from the total of registration fees paid, depending on the amount he/she raised. Whatever is raised, it will be used for the operation of the Jaguars. We will inform the mechanics for this fundraising.

We expect the full cooperation of all parents and supporters for this fundraising. Our purpose is to raise as much as we can to help everyone reduce your fees. If you don't help there will be no reimbursement for your fees.

WANTED!!! Coaches and Team Managers

For every team, we need volunteer coaches and team managers. They will manage and guide the teams for all games and practices. Two coaches are needed, 1 headcoach and 1 Assistant Coach. They will be responsible for training and guiding the teams during games, while the managers will be responsible for managing the presence and attendance of teams during practices and games. We need parents to volunteer for their kids' games. As much as possible, we would like to encourage PARENTS to get involved in their kids' team in any capacity. Team leaders, manager, fundraiser, supporter...

If you won't, who will?

We need to fill up the roster of our teams. Each team must have at least 12 or 15 individual players. The more the better specially for the new ones.

This is the team status as of September 30, 2007:

  • Mosquito: 6-8 years old - We need 5 members; ANY Race; It's OPEN to all!
  • Tykes: 9-10 years old - 10 Filipino Heritage Kids

  • Bantam: 13-14 years old - 2 Non-Filipino and 10 Filipino Heritage
